Monday Morning Sports Pageby Corey Costelloe on
Coming to you on the heels of a busy weekend for many of CSUB’s teams with the olympic sports participating in some of their first events of the season on the road while wrestling grabbed a dual meet win over Northern Colorado on Sunday afternoon.
Also, CSUB men’s basketball posted a historic 67-65 win over Cal State Fullerton Saturday night at the Icardo Center. Historic for many reason, first and foremost, it was the 10th win of the season for the ‘Runners, the most since the Division I reclassification process started in 2007-08. It also marked the first season-sweep of the Titans, a team the Roadrunners have faced in home-and-home series’ nearly every season since the transition began.
Personally, I was on hand back in 2008 in the first Division I meeting between CSUB and Fullerton, a 92-75 loss by the ‘Runners. I remember thinking then that we had a lot of work to do before we would be able to compete at that level. Now with CSUB winning their third-straight over Cal State Fullerton, I’m happy to say that we have proven the ability to not only compete, but win here on the West Coast. Nothing like seeing progress first hand.
Here are some weekend headlines recapping all the action. Remember men’s hoops is back in action tomorrow night at Pacific. The ‘Runners are looking to match their season-best four-game winning streak if they can manage their first ever win in Stockton.
