It was a pretty decent ‘Soccer Sunday’ for the CSUB Roadrunners. Starting with the men’s team, they captured their first Division I regular season tournament by beating Oregon State 2-1 on Sunday capturing the Hensor/Zeher Nike Classic. It was a tense affair complete with a red card for Oregon State and as the hometown paper put it ‘a near fight.’

You can write about any excuses you want, fact is CSUB won, has the hardware and now focuses on a tough Fullerton squad on the road Thursday.

Onto the ladies squad, the tied UC Santa Barbara on Sunday 1-1. Emily Noethe scored in the first 20 seconds for CSUB, but that would be it offensively for the Roadrunners who were outshot but UCSB but not outplayed in the draw. A Sam Pena shot in double OT nearly ended it for the ‘Runners. They’ll host Saint Mary’s on Friday.

Cross Country had a nice showing as well at the Roadrunner Invitational. All in all a good weekend and plenty more to come this week.
